Folding 5-Step Gunwale/Transom/Side Mounted Boat Ladder, L4050 (Product Manual)

Ladder Installation & Care

Thank you for your purchase of a Norestar boarding ladder. This ladder has been manufactured to the highest standards to ensure you can use it the most safely and conveniently.

When choosing the mounting location for your ladder, choose a location that will not interfere with the turning of the motor and that is not near the propeller.

Note: Due to the wide possibilities of mounting options, we have been unable to include the mounting hardware for this ladder.

Ladder Installation & Care

Mounting Positions
Mounting Positions
  1. Choose the most suitable side of transom for mounting ladder.
  2. Locate a place on the transom where all ends of ladder make contact with boat and that will not interfere with the turning of the motor and that are not near the propeller.
  3. Position the ladder so that ideally the bottom step is below the water. When mounting the ladder, the step should be parallel to the surface of the water and perpendicular to the centerline of the boat.
  4. Use the mounting brackets as templates and mark the location of the mounting holes. Please refer to Figure 1 for possible mounting positions of the top mounting brackets.
  5. Drill the marked holes with a bit compatible with the selected fasteners (Note, fasteners have not been provided). Hold drill perpendicular to the transom when drilling.
  6. If your transom depth is less than it is recommended you use a backing plate inside of your transom constructed of aluminum, marine plywood, or other suitable non-compressive material.
  7. Coat the mounting surfaces with marine grade adhesive/caulking. Put a small amount into the mounting holes in the transom. Insert selected bolts through the transom and secure in position with the fasteners.

Stainless steel, like other metals, is subject to minor corrosion, especially in salt-water environments. Regular washing with fresh water and periodic polishing with an appropriate marine grade polish will help to increase longevity and keep the ladder’s luster.

Periodically check the mounting hardware and tighten when necessary.

Safety

  • Do not jump or dive from the ladder.
  • Do not use when the motor is running.
  • Face the ladder when boarding your boat.
  • Never operate your boat with your ladder in the down position.
