Chain Only

Within the boating world, there tend to be two popular types of anchor chain: High Test and BBB, with the latter becoming more or less obsolete. If you are not using an anchor windlass, the type of chain you use is up to your preference and strength needs. If you are using a windlass, you will need to use the type of chain specified by your windlass which will most frequently be HT chain.

When chain is measured, it is measured according to the diameter of the chain lengths, not the inside or outside length/width. This means that two types of 1/4" chain can vary significantly in length and width. This is why it is critical to use the type of chain specified for your windlass.
